Viognier (Vee-ohn-yea) is the grape that makes the rarest wine in France. The flavors are rich and spicy – full bodied and richly textured with a long, lingering finish.
The wine has floral aromas touched with butterscotch and pear. The Flavors are honeyed and minerally.
This grape is normally part of our Cabernet blend. But this vintage is one of those outstanding years when the grape can stand alone. Lush and velvety, slightly herbal, with a black raspberry fruitiness.
Grapes hand selected from 30 year old vineyards were aged in new oak to produce this wine, one of the most impressive of our cabernet releases. These fully mature vines produced a smaller than normal crop of excellent fruit this vintage, resulting in a wine with much richness and depth.
The grapes from our 60 year old vines in our Rocky Top vineyard have produced the best vintage in memory. Our growing conditions produce small bunches of tiny grapes with excellent flavors and balance.
