This globe-trotting varietal was originally grown in the south of France, but now firmly entrenched in Uruguay. Tannat appears now to have found a home in the well-drained, sun drenched soils of Northern California. A wine of immense structure, concentration and power that begins with a perfumy aromatics of cherry blossoms, wild herbs and sagebrush leading to mid palate impressions of black fruits, dried cranberries with hints of black pepper and wild herbs and even a touch of anise. Lush and mouth filling, soft and velvety, this offering ends with a warm, dry, and lingering finish. Best paired with soft ripe cheeses, braised short ribs and the classic beef Wellington, this relative newcomer is always sure to impress in any setting.

We bought a bottle of this wine about 1-1/2 years ago. Just had it this last week end. It is outstanding. Alcohol is 15.2. Just slightly jammy. Fruit forward, very long finish. It is dark ruby red. Extremely nice inviting nose. Did not disappoint. Good price for a very nice wine. Our bottle was a Gold medal winner.
